Abandonment.

I'm back!

I can't believe how long i have left it, i have been thinking about blogging but just never had that little bit of time to do so.
So much has been going on, with thoughts on moving house, Christmas, money and the Christmas party at work. I've been so so busy.

So i thought i would share with you some photo's of what i've been doing (to an extent) recently.

I did visit back home up north a couple of weeks ago, it was lovely to be home but it sucked that i was ill. It meant i was in doors the whole time and i didn't manage to see anybody, but it was good to see my cat again ^.^

I've also come to the conclusion that i have odd eating habits and fetishes. I put things together other people would see as being weird. Take for instance eating crackers with blue cheese (i know everyone eats cheese and crackers) but with strawberry jam? I love it, bitter sweet some would say ;)
I also received some delicious belgian chocolates from somebody at work.

I haven't had much money recently but my best friend treated me for Christmas and bought me the real leather backpack with all the zips. I love it and it's so thoughtful of them to do so.
I did however invest in a pair of Levi denim shorts and those studded leather shoes and black wooly to keep me warm.

It's been so so cold and i presume it's going to get colder over the coming weeks, so i'm trying my best to wrap up warm. My wonderful mother offered to get me a new coat for Christmas, i don't have many coats and the ones i do are a very thin fabric.
So this time i wanted quality rather than thinking of how cheap i could buy one.
I bought the lovely Zara coat, which is 70% wool and has real leather lapels. It's a beautiful coat and it's super warm.

It was works Christmas party last night and the theme was 1940's. I didn't want to buy a new dress so i dug one out i already had. The silhouette was very 40's yet the detail not so much, but it worked well. I also got my hair done and based my look on the very beautiful Veronica Lake.
We were all given a bag of the nostalgic penny sweets as we danced the night away.

I go home for Christmas next week and i couldn't be more excited.

If i don't blog again before, have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year.
Lots of love,
Laura

Tim Walker exhibition - Somerset House

On Saturday i visited the Somerset House to see the Tim Walker exhibition, which i had been meaning to view for a while. I'm kind of glad i put it off a while as they now have their ice rink up, as well as the Christmas tree. Everything felt so festive, it gave me a warm feeling inside.

As for the exhibition i had seen lots of other peoples photo's of when they had visited themselves, but it's nothing like witnessing it with your own eyes. His words were magical and his creations were out of this world. I loved it, i felt as though i had stepped into a dream, into wonderland. So many surreal sculptures everywhere. It was everything i expected and more, if you haven't already i recommend you to view it. Not only that, it's free!

I hope you all had a great weekend.
It's time to get festive, it'll be Christmas before we know it.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone.

I celebrated Halloween on Saturday as we had a house party. Saturday was so so cold, yet we powered through and got everything organised. We carved several pumpkins (my first time ever) shockingly. We also made chocolate apples and other halloween treats which was fun, as well as decorating the house. The party was short notice and i hadn't an outfit planned, so i went as a blonde Wednesday Addams, who i love!

We also carved pumpkins at work and there was a competition too, i didn't actually know about this so i didn't do one, but i did help with the witch pumpkin!

Today is Halloween and i've had work yet this doesn't stop me from celebrating one of my favourite holidays. I needn't even dress up, typical me can be rather witchy and gothic, so i got on my darkest shade of lipstick, wore my choker with a black lace tunic and felt like a witch all day.

I hope you've all had/are having a great Halloween :)

Abandoned: black is the new black

It seems forever since i last blogged, for which i apologise (if you actually enjoy seeing/reading my blog) i guess i have been super busy. I've had lots going on, but it's been exciting. London never sleeps.. i guess.

Since i last blogged i've been back home one weekend, which was lovely, i got to see my family, friends and most of all my little kitty.

There's been more sample sales at work and i couldn't resist them. Karen Millen had one, i got 3 bags and spent £35, i checked their online store and all together i should have payed around £300 so i guess i can't complain. At the Oasis sale i filled a bag for £5 and got some very lovely pieces, from shoes, jackets, tops and one beautiful evening gown, knitwear and accessories. I promise i wont go to another.

Last weekend i went to Hyde Park with my work friend, it was lovely and sunny and there was so many beautiful Swans. We walked through the park and went onto Kensington Gardens to the Serpentine gallery which was good, i picked up some photo cards which inspired me.

Recently i have worn a lot of black and i like it. I usually team it with one thing to make it pop. I suppose this post isn't awfully interesting yet i thought i would share a few outfits i have recently worn.

Today i went to Brick Lane, i found some wonderful pieces as well as designer items, i didn't buy anything but it was nice just to browse, i met up with a girl from back home and she took a street style shot of me for a project of hers. Tonight i'm going out in Camden to a event called Smoke and Mirrors which should be great.

I wish you all a very lovely weekend.
Lots of love,
Laura

London Fashion Week

           Burberry Prorsum

           Erdem

           James Long

           Jonathan Saunders

           Kinder Aggugini

           Preen

So London fashion week is over and it's currently being held in Milan. I have tried my best to keep up with all the shows. I thought i would pick some of my favourites from London fashion week. What i found to be odd is that designers i generally tend to love, i didn't like so much for this particular show. For instance, Matthew Williamson and Christopher Kane, i expected far different. I do prefer Fall shows as i believe them to really show off what a designer is capable of.

Burberry Prorsum, i always like 'some' of their collection and this one be no different. I like the shapes they bring, often similar but always have that twist. For this collection the metallic colour grabbed me, it reminded me of a tin of quality street.

Erdem is always a winner for me, his soft colour pallet is beautiful as is his juxtaposition of fabrics and panels. I love the bright paisley prints and oddly love the snake skin used, i've never liked snake skin in any form, but he's won me over in this collection.

James Long, i don't think i've heard of before yet i love how his collection is all black and white and how he mixes masculinity with femininity. The looks are so clean and i believe them to be very wearable too.

Jonathan Saunders, again i always love his collections. I think this is possibly one of his most ambitious collections. It's kind of 70's disco with a twist. A metallic skirt, when turned the back is black matte. A split personality collection. I also love the ombre style tailored pieces.

Kinder Aggugini the prints resembled being at sea, with mermaids, sea horses, anchors etc. It felt rather tomboy and i liked that, dungarees, pinafores, button downs, something i find myself wearing everyday. Tomboy chic.

Preen, the first look i chose seemed to look more of an A/W collection, i love the sharp shapes and the dark colour pallet, it also had a sport essence too; however the second look i chose seems to be the complete opposite which i also really love. It kind of reminds me of something Celine would do, the tailored look.

What do you guys think?
